Project Topic Brainstorm

1. Burn Book of the Greek Gods

For this project I am thinking about making a Burn Book about different gods and goddesses. I would pick a couple pairings that had beef with each other and create a Burn Book style. The first pairing is Ares vs. Athena (https://www.theoi.com/Olympios/AresMyths2.html). Ares was persuaded by Aphrodite to back the Trojans therefore breaking his promise to Athena to back the Greeks with her. The next would be Athena vs. Poseidon (https://global.oup.com/us/companion.websites/9780199997329/student/materials/chapter8/summary/#:~:text=Athena%20and%20Poseidon%20vied%20for,she%20was%20proclaimed%20the%20victor.). These two fight over the patronage of Athens. The last pair of fighters would be Hera and Athena and Aphrodite (https://www.uexpress.com/tell-me-a-story/2014/12/7/the-golden-apple-of-discord-a). These three battled and bickered about who was the most beautiful woman. This one to me is most interesting as I have written the rest. I am heavily leaning towards this idea.

2. Forbidden Love: Ares and Aphrodite

Eros bound the two, Ares and Aphrodite. However, she was used as a bargaining chip by Zeus so he could free Hera from Hephaestus (https://www.theoi.com/Olympios/AphroditeLoves.html). Aphrodite did agree to the proposal set up by Zeus with reluctance as she did love Ares. Her thoughts were that he would be able to save her. While she was betrothed to another god she would sneak away to have an affair with Ares. This story book would be recounting their secret love. The ups and the downs as they try to keep it out of the public eye.

3. Orpheus and Eurydice

Orpheus and Eurydice are infamous in the mythology world for their epic love tragedy (https://www.greekmyths-greekmythology.com/orpheus-and-eurydice/). Orpheus fell in love with Eurydice almost immediately and Eurydice was blown away and in awe of the talent Orpheus held that she also fell in love. They were married and lived happily for a short time until Eurydice was bit by a snake while fleeing from Aristaeus. She passed and Orpheus was heart broken. He visited Hades and Persephone, convincing them through his musical abilities to let him take Eurydice out of the Underworld. Hades agree but only under the condition he couldn't look back until she was fully human or else she would be gone forever.

4. Who is Nobody??

The story of Nobody begins with Odysseus and the Cyclopes Polyphemus (https://www.greekmyths-greekmythology.com/odysseus-and-cyclops-myth/). Odysseus and his crew stumble upon the cave of Polyphemus and are in bug trouble. Two if his crew are killed and so the rest decide to give Polyphemus some wine as a gift. They fill him up with alcohol to distort his thoughts and he falls asleep. Odysseus tells him that his name is Nobody as a way to trick the cyclops. This way when they poke his eye he screams and yells "Nobody is hurting me" this turns Polyphemus' friends away and back to what they were doing. To escape, Odysseus and his crew hid under the belly of the sheep that Polyphemus keeps and they manage to make it back to their ship.
